With the sum of about 2.8 million euros, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) will fund research in the field of quantum communication at the University of Paderborn. Within the “Quantum Futur” Program, Jun.-Prof. Dr. Tim Bartley will lead a junior research group to investigate integrated quantum optics and superconducting electronics.
The aim of the research is to exploit the quantum properties of light for quantum communication. The generation, manipulation and detection of quantum optical states are technological challenges which are taken up in the BMBF project, which will last 5 years.
