From 21st-25th October Jan Philipp Höpker and Tim Bartley joined the Single Photon Workshop in Milan. Jan Philipp presented his work on “Characterizing integrated single photon detectors on lithium niobate waveguides”.
We visited the first fall meeting of the DPG in Freiburg. Frederik Thiele gave a talk on his results on a polarisation converter in lithium niobate at cryogenic temperatures. Frederik Thiele, Jan Philipp Höpker, and Moritz Bartnick presented their work on “Towards Cryogenic Polarisation Modulation in Lithium Niobate Waveguides”, “Integrated transition edge sensors on lithium niobate waveguides”, and “Towards an integrated PDC source at cryogenic temperatures” at the DPG-Frühjahrstagung in Rostock.
From 15th-17th October Jan Philipp Höpker joined the ICIQP Conference in Paris, France. He presented his work on “Integrated transition edge sensors on lithium niobate waveguides”.

With the sum of about 2.8 million euros, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) will fund research in the field of quantum communication at the University of Paderborn. Within the “Quantum Futur” Program, Jun.-Prof. Dr. Tim Bartley will lead a junior research group to investigate integrated quantum optics and superconducting electronics.

To celebrate the 16-month anniversary of the MQO group we have gone on a little Sunday excursion. Playing minigolf we have enjoyed one of the last warm afternoons of the year. We let the day end with snacks, cold drinks and a delicious MQO cake!
