Who doesn't know the laser sword from the Star Wars movies? But what are lasers and how do they work? What else can you do with them? These were the questions the students of the MINT-EC-Camp: Laser Physics explored during their visit to the Department of Physics. After a short lecture on lasers, the students were able to learn about the construction and functioning of a laser directly in the laboratory. The applications of lasers in the department's current research also played an important role. This gave the students an idea of why lasers play such an important role in our lives today and why the Internet would not work without lasers.
