TRR 142 - Maßgeschneiderte nichtlineare Photonik: Von grundlegenden Konzepten zu funktionellen Strukturen,
Center for Optoelectronics and Photonics (CeOPP)
Rebecca Aschwanden and Yves Köppeler spent a month at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra, Australia in the research group of Dr. Sergey Kruk.
During the visit of collaboration partner Prof. Nattaporn Chattham at Kasetsart University in Bangkok, interested PhD students had the opportunity to learn about the research activities in our group.

At this year's TRR142 workshop in Bad Sassendorf, René Geromel and Helene Wetter were awarded second and third prize for the best poster. We are delighted with this recognition of their achievements.
In our recent joint publication with Prof. Xianzhong Chen from Heriot-Watt University, UK, we demonstrated the creation of grafted perfect vector vortex beams using optical metasurfaces.
Safety always comes first and fires cannot be ruled out even in our laboratories. So we took advantage of the nice weather and conducted a fire safety drill again after a long time. This includes not only knowing how to behave in an emergency, but also how to use the fire extinguishers. Many thanks to Mr. Hohrath from Department 5 for the professional instruction.
Material dispersion accumulated in optical setups tends to heavily distort and chirp ultra-short laser pulses which can be especially disadvantageous in nonlinear optical applications or pump-probe experiments. In our recent publication ‘Compact metasurface-based optical pulse-shaping device’ published in Nano Letters, we show that multiple metasurfaces on a single glass substrate can be used, to alter the dispersion of ultra-short laser pulses…
Our paper 'Multichannel vectorial holographic display and encryption' is selected as the ESI Top Paper in January 2023 in the Journal Light: Science&Applications (LSA) by SpringerNature. We are pleased that the paper makes an important contribution to new multiplexing methods in holography.
Physicist Prof. Dr. Lingling Huang has received the prestigious Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. She was nominated by the Paderborn physicist Prof. Dr. Thomas Zentgraf.
Scientists at the University of Paderborn develop new technology for manipulating light. The research results are now published in the journal Nature Photonics.
Congratulations to Dr. Jinlong Lu. After a successful disputation of his thesis on Topological Photonics with Metamaterials, Mr. Lu will leave us. We wish him every success in his further life and career.
Congratulations to Dr. Bernhard Reineke-Matsudo. After a successful disputation of his thesis on nonlinear holography with Metamaterials, Mr. Reineke-Matsudo will proceed as Postdoc at the Institute for Photonic Quantum Systems at Paderborn University. We are looking forward for a fruitful collaboration with him.
Congratulations to Dr. Daniel Frese. After a successful disputation of his thesis on Holography with Metamaterials, Mr. Frese will leave us. We wish him every success in his further life and career.
