DFG Leibniz Prize for Prof. Christine Silberhorn

On March, 16 th 2011, Prof. Christine Silberhorn was awarded one of the 2011 Leibniz Prizes by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). This interdisciplinary award is dedi­cated to scientists, who, with their innovative and successful research, have made large contributions to today's knowledge in any research field. Among the international awards for promoting research it is one of the most prestigious and is endowed with a research grant of 2.5 million Euros.

Prof. Silberhorn has been granted this award because of her outstanding work on Integrated Quantum Optics. Her research is concerned not only with the fundamental understanding of the intri­guing quantum features of light, but also with combining this knowledge with cutting-edge technology to implement integrated photonic quantum information networks.
