15 students participated in the block course "Ion beam analysis 2014", which took place at the Accelerator and Isotopes Laboratory of the RUBION of the Ruhr university Bochum for 1 week. The participants learned how to modify and analyse materials. Here are some impressions. At the Gymnasium Nepomucenum Rietberg the special learning assignments of three upper school students have been presented to the public. One of them, Matthias Strake, is investigating the thermally induced modification of nanosphere layer masks.
